Unbox Newbies Adventure PS4 Review By Lawrence J Pepple Jr The Reviewer

Ladies and gentleman the video game world gives you Unbox: Newbies adventure a cardboard box in a cardboard box world. The story begins when a team of people from the GPS( Global Postal Service) by the names of Bounce, Dash and Digi use there machine called the Box-o-matic to create a self made Box named Newbie. Newbies goal or should I say your goal is to save the GPS from impending bankruptcy, however in the mitts of it all is a Sinister boss known as Boss wild and his group of Wild cards that are out to stop Newbie by any means necessary.

In order to save the GPS your goal is to collect stamps from different worlds in the game and defeat Boss wild. To collect stamps you will need to help different box people with different objectives and or tasks like finding items, parts for those items, racing though a course, saving boxes and of course we can not forget you guessed it!! Delivering mail LOL. The challenges go from easy to intense which is a spot on way to get your true game on. Some challenges can be tough but rewarding when beaten. Keep in mind you are being timed through most of the challenges so that can be nerve racking.

To control Newbie you of course use the lift stick to move him. For moves Newbie can jump using R1 or R2 and also has a super jump called unboxed. Unboxed while using L1 or L2 allows you to bounce in mid air and reach far places that a normal jump can’t. You do have a limit of 6 unboxed times you can use until it’s empty but can recharged it by finding unboxed items or checkpoints. Newbie also has an attack called the ground attack… “you first jump then press circle to perform it.” I will say controlling newbie for the first time can be frustrating because it can feel like your losing control and also slippery when landing on small platforms and may end up dying a lot or have to start over on missions that involve you going up a building. Once you can over come “controlling issues” the game is really fun to play and the challenges are “to me” very enjoyable.

The visuals in this game is colorful and cutesy with a modern cartoon feel which would tickle the young at heart. Its also an open world which is cool and gives you the chance to explore beautiful scenery that is very enjoyable to the eye. You can also interact with most things like riding cars, forklifts, sitting on lawn chairs and so on “to me it was really fun to fool around with all of theses.” There is a shop where you can customize yourself with different types of boxes designs with also add on’s of hats, caps, glasses and other variety’s. “I must have spent hours deciding what character to make in that shop and I feel you will too.” For an open world I was a little sad cause it is a beautiful place, it just didn’t have much to use and with an open world I want to be wowed with stuff that I can interact with but the game only delivered a little.  I would have like to see more shops because there is only one to my knowledge, would have liked different things to drive in or even fly planes, and more weapons to fight the evil wild cards. I do find the challenges fun and there are a lot of challenges to complete but for the non challenges very weak on things to interact with.

There are a lot of problems that can occur in the game. There are many times that you will get stuck and stick a lot or even go trough the platform. They have a re-spawned bottom on the control to go to your checkpoint but if its far away it can be annoying because a lot of these objectives have time limits. With theses problems it made intense challenges and gaming unpleasant hopefully they will have updates to fix these issues in the near future.

Newbie is a fun game with some interesting ideas. I did find the challenges fun, I couldn’t put it down but for open world free time is not so fun. Would I play it again yes but it will be awhile. I give it a 7 out of 10.

Annie’s Shells and white cheddar by Lawrence J Pepple Jr The Reviewer

Can you think back to when you were a kid? What was your favorite meal to enjoy?

Mine was Macaroni and cheese! I mean who doesn’t love cheese topped foods!!! Anyway catering to my inner child I decided to try Annie’s White Cheddar Mac&Cheese (side note I’m a huge fan of cheddar so its no surprise I picked this flavor).

After waiting for what seemed like forever for one of my meal to cook AAAHHH I tasted it and I HATED IT!! I was not a fan, what used to be my favorite meal was quickly turned a nightmare…Where is the cheese? They must have forgotten to give me the rest cheese or maybe the factory was running low that day..hahaha

No but seriously I could hardly taste the cheddar which is the key to enjoying mac and cheese. The problem with it is that the box comes with a little “emphasis on the little” bag of powdered cheddar. “I don’t know if Annie knows this…but someone should let her know and soon” mixing powder with hot shells means it doesn’t melt right away, the cheddar chucks up and gets stuck inside the shells. You get chunks of cheese in one spoon and salt water taste in another spoon full.

Annie I’m sorry but at this point I’m going to have to say “Forget the cheddar Velveeta is better” This dish in my book unfortunately is not a winner

Outlast PS4 Review by Lawrence J Pepple Jr The Reviewer

Outlast the survival horror story line is pretty to the point. The character Miles Supshur  “played by you” gets an email from a man (whose is Anonymous if you count 10260110756@mutemail.com as a name) he tells you bad experiments are being made at the Asylum that need to be exposed, determine to expose the terrifying things going on. You find your way in to investigate whats going on only to find out that the Asylum is overrun by the inmates who have gone on a killing spree. Now it’s up to you to find out how this happened, show the world whats happening and to Escape the Asylum.

Now for the game play your treated with a first person view, all you have is a camcorder, your legs to run and to hide and sneak pass people. You’re helpless which is what I think makes the game objective more challenging by finding keys or key cards to open doors, fix elevator with fuses or other things to help you progress. Now this doesn’t help your night get any better because what you will be dealing with are all the crazy’s that want to kill you in the sickest ways possible. This is where your hiding and sneaking comes to play and you will need this for survival from the crazies. There are places to hide and be truly unseen such as lockers or under beds. “Keep in mind they will search lockers or beds so pray they don’t find you.” You also have the Ability to run and look behind you which is awesome (also realistic) with this feature you’ll always know how close the crazies are and plan quick hiding place…If they see you go into hiding, your hiding place is a FAIL.

Now on to the camcorder this is another key element to help you film events and also use it to see in the dark which you will be using a lot of the time. Using the light on the cam you will waste battery life, you will need to find batteries to keep it running. The batteries are scattered all around the asylum and you can hold up to 10 batteries but they are limited so use them wisely or you’ll be in the dark unless you have super vision. You also collect files which you read and find more about whats happened in the asylum. You can grab these files or not its up to you. “I find them pointless… you learn more about the story as you advance.” This game keeps you curious and keeps you wanting to continue exploring more to find the answers you need.

The graphics are pretty good since it was released in 2013 and moved to PS4 and Xbox. It isn’t PS4 real life graphics but almost spot on to give you the heart attack you need with a first person view. The people you encounter are freaky and crazy that you will surely have a rush of butterfly’s and panic going through your body. They also have jump scares so be ready to scream, jump, panic, or do whatever movements you would do. Your pants will fly off  your body because this game throws everything at you but the kitchen sink. “I tell you some parts of this game are so scary that its hard to really press on, you’ll feel like your in the game and don’t want to get caught or worse die.”

The main person you will meet is the mother of all horror and that’s the mad doctor. This guy loves to torture, play with his victims, and may I add likes to joke while doing so. When you come across him he catches you and wheels you in a wheelchair to this room that he does his surgeries in…”let me tell ya its not pretty.” This part is just disturbing once he brings you in this room he starts talking in his creepy voice and picking his weapon of choose he then chops off 2 of your fingers. He’s a person I believe will give you a hard time to escape.

Outlast is a spot on classic horror at its finest. There are some flaws in the game like skipping or hiccups and for some reason coming close to the end when you die the game will load and just keep loading. I’m not sure if its just the digital copy that has that problem but its annoying and happens a lot. Hopefully the disc version makes the cut with new updates and less loading time.

Outlast for the most part is a solid horror game and I give this bad boy a 8.5 out of a 10
